Two weeks ago, Pastor Andrew preached Part 1 of this two-part sermon on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, also known as “spiritual gifts.”
I’m here today to finish up the explanation of the list of spiritual gifts that Pastor Andrew started two weeks ago.
Let me begin by generally explaining what spiritual gifts are:
1) Not to be mistaken with natural talents and abilities, spiritual gifts are supernatural abilities given by God through the Holy Spirit.
持って生まれた才能や能力とは違い、御霊の賜物は聖霊を通して神から与えられる人知を超えた能力です。
2) Christians need spiritual gifts to fulfill the mission of the church, because human talents and abilities do not and can not accomplish the spiritual plans and purposes of God and the church.
教会の使命を果たすためにクリスチャンには御霊の賜物が必要です。なぜなら人の才能や能力は霊的な計画や神と教会の目的を達成しないし、達成できないからです。
3) Each and every Christian should pray for, discover, nurture, and use his or her spiritual gifts, so that the church can function and grow according to how God intended.
クリスチャン一人ひとりが御霊の賜物のために祈り、賜物を発見し、育み、用いるべきです。そうすれば教会が神が意図するように役割を果たし、成長します。
With that in mind, let’s go right in and pick up where we left off two weeks ago.
Administration 運営
With this gift the Holy Spirit enables certain Christians to organize, direct, and implement plans to lead others in the various ministries of the Church.
この賜物を用いて聖霊は教会のいろいろなはたらきに導くために 計画をまとめ、指示し、実行することができるようにしてくださる。
This gift is closely related to the gift of leadership, but is more goal- or task-oriented and is also more concerned with details and organization.
This gift enables the Christian to be good managers of people, time, and resources.
People with the gift of administration lead by example when necessary, but also know when and what to delegate in order to accomplish goals.

Apostleship 使徒の身分
The mission for those with the gift of apostleship is to plant new ministries and churches, raise up and develop leaders, and lead pastors and shepherds.
使途の身分の賜物を持った人たちの使命は、新しいミニストリーや教会を立ち上げ、リーダーを立て養い、牧師たちを導くことです。
These are leaders of leaders and ministers of ministers, and they are influencers.
Missionaries, church planters, Christian scholars, institutional leaders, and those leading multiple ministries often have the gift of apostleship.

Discernment 洞察力
The Holy Spirit gives the gift of discernment to enable certain Christians to clearly recognize and distinguish between the influence of God, Satan, the world, and the flesh in a given situation.
聖霊は洞察力の賜物をある状況において神、サタン、世、肉欲からのものなのかどうかをはっきりと見分けることができるようにあるクリスチャンに与えてくださいます。
The church needs those with this gift to warn believers in times of danger or keep them from being led astray by false teaching.
Christians with this gift are sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit because of their close and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.
They study and memorize the Bible fervently and have a very active and powerful prayer life.

Evangelism 伝道
Evangelists are given the ability by the Holy Spirit to clearly and effectively communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to others.
伝道者は聖霊によってイエス・キリストの福音を人に明確に効果的に伝える能力が与えられています。
They are burdened in their hearts for the lost and will go out of their way to share the truth with them.
Evangelists are able to overcome the normal fear of rejection and engage non-believers in meaningful conversations about Jesus.
Their gift allows them to communicate with all types of people, and therefore they receive a greater response to the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.
They continually seek out relationships with those who don’t know Jesus and are open to the leading of the Holy Spirit to approach different people.

Exhortation 説教
The Spirit of God gives this gift to people in the church to strengthen and encourage those who are wavering in their faith.
神の霊がこの賜物を教会の人たちに信仰がゆらいでいる人たちを力づけ励ますように与えています。
Those with the gift of exhortation can uplift and motivate others as well as challenge and rebuke them in order to foster spiritual growth and action.
説教の賜物を持っている人たちは人を高揚させ、やる気にさせるだけでなく、霊的成長や行動を促すためにチャレンジを与えたり、戒めたりすることもあります。
They are fiercely loyal to God and very concerned about the health of the church, which causes them to confront people in the church.
The goal of the encourager is to see everyone in the church continually building up the body of Christ and glorifying God.

Faith 信仰
The Holy Spirit distributes this gift to some in the church to encourage and build up the church in her confidence in God.
聖霊がこの賜物を教会のある人たちに神に信頼をおき、教会を励まし、たて上げるために与えます。
In the Bible the gift of faith is often accompanied by great works of faith, which further serves as evidence of the gift and of God.
Those with the gift of faith have an unusually great amount of trust in God’s sovereignty and goodness.
They expect God to move and are not surprised when He answers a prayer or performs a miracle.

Giving 与えること
The Holy Spirit imparts this gift to some in the church to meet the various needs of the church and its ministries, missionaries, or of people who do not have the means to provide fully for themselves.
聖霊がこの賜物を教会のある人たちに教会とそのはたらき、宣教師、または生活手段に困っている人たちの必要を満たすために与えています。
Those with this gift love to share with others the blessings God has given them, in turn giving all the credit to God and his provisions.
They are typically very hospitable and will seek out ways and opportunities to help and bless others.
They have no problems with tithing, and usually give beyond their tithes on a regular basis.
They are also excellent stewards and will often spend less on themselves in order to give more to the spread of the Gospel and the care of the needy.

Healing 癒す
All spiritual gifts are to be exercised in faith, but gifts of healings involve a special measure of it.
This gift is interesting in that there is no guarantee that a person will always be able to heal anyone he or she desires, because it is subject to the sovereign will of God, as are all spiritual gifts.
The spiritual gift of healing is an intimate one as it reveals the heart and compassion of God.
癒しの賜物は神の心と慈悲を表すので親密な賜物です。
Healings reveal that God is near to His people and He cares about their sufferings.
癒しは神がご自分の民の近くにおられ、彼らの苦しみを気にかけてくださっていることを明かしています。
Healings are meant to draw people to God through His Son Jesus Christ.
癒しは御子イエス・キリストを通して人々が神に近づくためにあるのです。
God wants those healed to respond in faith with thanksgiving and love.
By God’s grace, physical healing should lead to faith in Jesus.
Those who have this gift are compassionate toward the sick and pray over them regularly.
They have great faith and trust that God can and will heal some and are not deterred when He chooses not to.
They are motivated knowing that God’s revealed power will draw people to faith in Jesus.
Their ultimate concern is the spiritual well-being of those being healed and their relationship with Jesus.

Knowledge 知識
The gift of knowledge is an understanding of the things in this world and in our lives that is founded in the Gospel and rooted in the Scriptures.
知識の賜物はこの世のこと、私たちにおきていることを福音に基づいて聖書に根ざして理解をします。
The person with this gift is usually well versed in the Scriptures and often has much committed to memory.
They understand truth and communicate it effectively at the appropriate times.
The gift of knowledge allows a believer to relate the Scriptures, and particularly the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to all aspects of life in this world.

That wraps up the remaining nine spiritual gifts and this two-part sermon series.
But before we finish, I thought it would be both necessary and helpful to reiterate the seven “spiritual gift principles” that Pastor Andrew opened with:
Spiritual Gift Principle #1: Gifts are given by the Holy Spirit. You can ask, but you can’t decide. The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts according to His grace and wisdom. (1 Corinthians 12:11)

Spiritual Gift Principle #2: Every Christian receives at least one spiritual gift. (1 Corinthians 12:7)

Spiritual Gift Principle #3: No one Christian has all the gifts. (1 Corinthians 12:7,8)

Spiritual Gift Principle #4: No one gift is experienced by all Christians. (1 Corinthians 12:29,30)

Spiritual Gift Principle #5: The gifts are not given to play with or to brag about. They are given to bring glory to God, to build up the church and to edify other believers. (1 Corinthians 12:7)

Spiritual Gift Principle #6: Spiritual gifts are to be eagerly desired. (1 Corinthians 14:1)
御霊の賜物の原理６：御霊の賜物は熱心に求められるもの。（第１コリント人１４：１)
Spiritual Gift Principle #7: Unless spiritual gifts are used in love, they are useless and even harmful. (1 Corinthians 13:1)
御霊の賜物の原理７：愛をもって用いられなければ、御霊の賜物は役に立たないし、害を及ぼすことにさえなる。（第１コリント人１３：１)
I’ll end today with this passage of Scripture:
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3)
