Fruit (Kids’ Message)
Can you identify these ten fruits:
- Apple
- banana
- strawberry
- watermelon
- pineapple
- pear
- orange
- peach
- mango
- tomato
How do you know an this [image] is a strawberry? It could be a banana in disguise!
How do you know this [image] is a pear? It looks like an apple. It’s kind of like an apple. How do you know it’s an apple?
Without getting into ph.D level scientific analysis of fruits, it’s pretty easy to identify fruits because we just know what an apple looks and tastes like. We know what a banana looks and tastes like, and so on.
The Bible talks about the fruit of the Spirit, and I think you’ve been studying that in Sunday School, so can you tell me what the fruits of the Spirit are?:
- Love
- joy
- peace
- patience
- kindness
- goodness
- faithfulness
- gentleness
- self-control
How do we know what love is? Maybe it’s just desire in disguise? How do we know what joy is? Maybe that’s just selfishness in disguise? How can we really identify the fruits of the Spirit? Without getting into a ph.D level analysis of the fruit of the Spirit, it’s pretty easy to identify the fruit of the Spirit because as humans, we just know what love is.
We might be able to fool ourselves or others sometimes for a little while, but usually we can feel when we’re being loved. We know when we feel joy. We know when someone is being kind (or unkind) to us. It’s pretty easy to tell.
Jesus said that we can tell who is godly and who is ungodly by the fruit in their lives. So growing the fruit of the Spirit in our lives is really, really important. The more love, joy, peace (and so on) that we have, the more we will enjoy our life and others’, and the more we will enjoy our life with God our Father.
So here’s the big question: how do we grow the fruit of the Spirit in our life? Well, it’s fruit from the Holy Spirit. So we need to get close to the Holy Spirit and spend time with Him. We do this in Bible reading, prayer, meeting with other Christians (like in church), and in sharing with others and caring for them.
私たちのうちに御霊の実をどのように育てればいいのでしょうか？
Let’s pray for more fruit in our lives.
The Harvest (Mini-sermon 1)
収穫
In Luke 8 Jesus tells the Parable of the Sower. In it, a farmer spreads good seed on the ground.
ルカ8章では、イエスは種を蒔く人の例え話をしています。その例え話の中で、農夫は種を地に蒔きます。
Some of it falls on a path. It never finds soil and is eaten quickly by the birds.
その中のいくつかは歩道に落ちました。その落ちた種は育つ土に定着することなく、鳥たちにすぐに食べられてしまいます。
Some of the seed lands in shallow soil where it springs up quickly and looks pretty good for a while but because it has no root, as soon has the harsh elements of nature come, it dies off pretty quickly.
種子のいくつかは浅い土壌に撒かれ、すぐに芽を出し、しばらくはよく育っているように見えますが、ちゃんと根を這っていないので自然の厳しさにさらされ、すぐ枯れてしまいます。
Some of the seed lands in good soil but it grows up amongst weeds. So it grows okay for a season but then it gets choked by the weeds and becomes unfruitful.
種子のいくつかは良い土壌の土に落ちましたが、雑草の中で育ちました。ですから、季節に合わせてよく育ちますが雑草に囲まれ窮屈になり実をつけることはありません。
The final batch of seed lands in good soil, it’s well tended and grows to produce a massive harvest.
最後の種たちは良い土壌に撒かれました。それらの種は順調に育ち、大いなる収穫となりました。
This parable illustrates various degrees of unreceptive attitudes to the gospel and the fruit that grows (or doesn’t grow) from such states of mind.
この例え話は、福音を受け入れる時の人々の態度と人々の心の状態から生まれる、成長の結果や成果の程度を表現しています。（福音を受け入れようとしない態度）
The first seed that falls on the path represents a closed mind. This is people who refuse to even consider the gospel. And so nothing godly ever even begins to grow in their lives.
歩道に落ちた最初の種子は、「閉ざされた心」を表現します。これは福音のことを考えるとを拒む人々です。そして神の教えはそのような人々の中では育っていきません。
The second seed that falls in the shallow soil represents a superficial mind. The superficial mind responds to the gospel at first because the love of God is very appealing. But there’s no commitment. No sense of self-denial or submission. And there’s no assimilation of the truth to be able to stand under pressure.
浅い土壌に撒かれた２番目の種は、「うわべだけの心」を表しています。神の愛が非常に魅力的であるため、うわべだけの心を持つ人々は最初は福音に反応します。しかし真剣さがないので、自分を自制をしようとか従順でいようという気は毛頭ありません。問題に打ち勝つことができるように真理を取り入れようともしません。
The third seed that falls amongst the weeds represents a distracted mind. There are so many things in our world to distract us from the truth of the Word, and they’re not all bad. Money, health issues, romance, work commitments, family commitments, church commitments, the entire entertainment industry, the fashion world, the sporting world, world news, and so on. The matter of distraction is always going to come back to priorities, and how greatly we desire to see an abundant harvest of the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.
雑草の中に落ちた三つ目の種は、「気が散った心を」表します。私たちの世界には、真実の言葉から私たちの心をそらすものがたくさんあります。それらは全く悪いわけではありません。お金、健康の問題、ロマンス、仕事、家族、教会、娯楽産業全体、ファッション、スポーツ、世界のニュースなど。私たちの気を散らすものは、私たちがどのように優先順位を持たせるのかが問題となります。また、私たちは人生の中で御霊の結果、すなわち御霊の実がたくさん成長することを望んでいます。よく、これを私たちは御霊の実を収穫すると言います。（気を取られた心）
One of the things that a distracted mind produces is unbalanced growth. Unbalanced growth is a mark of immaturity. Have you ever seen a Christian who is really kind, but has no patience whatsoever? Or a Christian who is full of joy and is a buzz to be around, but they have really poor self-control in their decision-making or behaviour?
注意が散漫で気が散っている気持ちがが生み出すことの一つは不安定な成長です。バランスの取れていない成長は、霊的な未熟さの兆候です。あなたは今までに、本当に親切だが、忍耐がなくこらえ性のないクリスチャンを見たことがありませんか？？または喜びに満ちていて周りの人々の人気者ですが、決断力がなく、自分の行動や感情をうまくコントロールできないというようなクリスチャンを見たことはありませんか？
The fourth seed represents a receptive mind. If we want to be that fourth seed that lands in the good soil and grows into a massive harvest, then we need to tend the garden of our lives very carefully. We need to water and feed our souls with the Word of God. We need to prune the excesses from our lives, and introduce and cultivate the good things of God.
４つ目の種は「受け入れようとする心」を表します。もし私たちが種だとして、良い土壌に落ちてして、成長し大きな収穫となる、その4つ目の種になりたいのなら、私たちは人生という庭を気を丁寧に手入れする必要があります。私たちは神の言葉を生きる水とし、神の言葉で私たちの魂を養う必要があります。私たちは、もう言い訳をするのを辞めて、神の良いことを紹介し、人生という庭を耕して行く必要があります。
That sounds good, but how do we do it? How do we assimilate the truth of God into our lives so that it takes effect and produces a harvest of spiritual fruit?
それは良い話だと思いますが、では、どうすればいいのでしょうか？神の真理を私たちの人生に取り入れ、聖霊の果実という霊的な収穫を生み出すためには、どうすればいいのでしょうか？
Do you know what Jesus said at the end of the Parable of the Sower? He said,
あなたは、種を蒔いた人の例え話の最後に、イエスが何と言ったか知っていますか？イエスは次のように言いました。
And that’s what we’ll look at in the next mini-sermon.
それは次のお話の中で説明しましょう。
The Transformation (mini-sermon 2)
次は、「心を新たにして自分を変える」ことについてお話をします。
If we want to become fruitful Christians producing a spiritual harvest, it all will come down to how well we assimilate the truth of the Bible into our lives, or, more simply, as Jesus put it, it will all come down to “how carefully you listen”.
私たちが霊的な収穫すなわち霊的な成長を生み出すような、実り多いクリスチャンになりたいなら、それはすべて聖書に書かれている真理を、私たちの人生にいかによく吸収していくかにかかっています、もっと簡単に言えば、イエスが言ったように、「よく注意して聞きなさい。」ということが全てなのです。
Paul wrote to the Roman church and said this:
パウロはローマ教会に次のように書いています。
The influence of the world on our lives is very strong. If we succumb to it, even partially, we start to become like the second and third seeds in the parable of the sower. How do we resist conforming to the world, with its relentless pull? By being transformed by the renewing of our minds.
この世界が私たちの人生に及ぼす影響は非常に強いと言えるでしょう。たとえ少しでも、影響を受けて負けてしまったら、私たちは種蒔き人の比喩の２番目と３番目のようになり始めます。どのように、この世に調子を合わせずに、この世に従わずに抵抗することができるでしょうか？その答えは、「心を新たにして自分を変えることによって」、この世に抵抗することができます。（この世のまねをすることを避ける）
This happens when we listen carefully to the Bible, the Word of God, and assimilate it into our lives. Don’t be fooled. It’s not enough to just believe what’s written in the Bible. We must fill our minds with it so that that Holy Spirit can transform us with the truth.
心を新たにして自分を変えることは、聖書とそこに書かれている神の言葉をよく聞き、私たちの人生に神の言葉を取り入れた時におこります。しかし、だまされてはいけません。 聖書に書かれていることを信じるだけでは不十分なのです。聖霊が真理を用いて私たちを変えることができるためには、私たちは、私たちの心を聖霊で満たさなければいけないのです。
This rarely happens just by casually reading and believing the Bible.
心を聖霊で満たすということは、聖書を読んで信じるだけではまれにしか起こりません。次に伝える６つのことを実行しなければ、私たちの心は聖霊で満たされません。

We need to receive in our hearts what is written. It’s got to be taken in.
聖書に書かれていることを心に受け入れることが必要。理解して受け入れなくてはいけません。 -
We need to regularly and faithfully read the Bible. We can’t watch TV for three hours and then read the Bible for three minutes and expect to grow. We need to be more mature than that.
聖書を定期的にかつ誠実な気持ちを持って読むことが大切です。3時間テレビを見ることはできても、聖書を3分しか読まず、しかも3分間しか聖書を読んでいないのに成長することを期待している人がいます。そんなふうに考えている人は、もっと霊的に成長する必要があります。

We need to research the Bible. Study it. Address the challenges you find in it, don’t just gloss over them. Ask the right questions of the text and of yourself as your read.
私たちは聖書の書を学び、研究する必要があります。聖書の勉強をしましょう。自分で課題を見つけて取り組んでください。聖句を読み、あなた自身の状況に当てはめたり、自分の気持ちに聞きながら聖書を読んでください。
（聖書を調べることが必要。） -
We need to remember what we’re reading. If God’s Word is important to you, you can remember it. And this is good for resisting temptation, making wise decisions, reducing stress, building confidence, offering good advice and sharing faith.
聖書で読んだこと、聖書に書いてあることを覚えることが必要。神の言葉があなたにとって重要であるなら、あなたはそれを覚えているはずです。聖句を覚えておけば、誘惑に戦うこともできるし、賢明な決定を下すこともできます。ストレスを溜め込まなくても済みますし、自信も深まります。良いアドバイスを人に与えることもできますし、他の人と信仰を分かち合う時に聖句を覚えていることは必要になって来ます。
（聖書で読んだことを覚えることが必要。） -
We need to reflect on what we’re reading. Meditate on it. Think deeply about it. This is probably the greatest way to renew of our minds. More than anything else, it’s meditating on scripture that transforms our minds and makes us more like Jesus.*
聖書で読んだことを熟考することが必要。聖句を読んで黙想してください。それについて深く考えてください。これは恐らく私たちの心を新しくさせる最も良い方法でしょう。何よりも、聖句に瞑想し、考えを深くすることは私たちの心を変え、一新させ、私たちをもっとイエス様のように成長させてくれるでしょう。

Before I finish, I want to turn this around and add one more point to this matter of transforming our minds. An important part of the transforming of our minds is how carefully we listen to the Word of God. (We’ve just talked about that.)
話を終える前に、少し視点を変えて、私たちの「心を変える」というこのことに、もう一点付け加えたいと思います。先ほどお話ししましたが、私たちの心が変わる、一新するために重要なことは、神の御言葉をどれほど注意深く聞くかということに深く関係します。
A second part of that transformation is how carefully we worship; our love response to what we are hearing from God. Jesus said, “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 The truth part involves our assimilation of the Word into our lives. The Spirit part involves what of ourselves we are willing to give to God, the Holy Spirit.
心の一新によって自分を変える２番めの方法は、いかに誠実に礼拝するかに関わっています。礼拝するということは、私たちが聞く神の言葉にどのように答えるかという、私たちの愛の現れです。イエスは言われました、「神は霊ですから、神を礼拝する者は、霊とまことによって礼拝しなければなりません。」。このヨハネ書４章24節によれば、どのように神の言葉を私たちの人生へ取り入れるかということがまこと、真理ということになります。私たちが喜んで私たちを捧げるのは神である霊ということになります。
（どれほど注意深く礼拝するか）
As one illustration, have you ever heard a person say, (or have you ever thought yourself), “I didn’t get much out of today’s praise and worship”? (This is not a reflection of our praise and worship team! It’s just an example.) Worship is not about what we get from God. Worship is about what we give to God.
一例として、「今日の礼拝と賛美からは、あんまり得られるものがなかったな。」と人が言っているのを聞いたことがありますか？ 因みに、これは単なる例で、この教会の賛美と礼拝のことを言っているのではありません。礼拝とは、私たちが神から何を得るかということではありません。 礼拝とは、私たちが神に何をささげるかということです。
God the Father wants worshippers who are willing to do more than just follow the routine in worship activities. He wants worshippers who will worship in Spirit and in truth.
父なる神様は、礼拝活動を日常的な決まりごとにとどめず、それ以上に礼拝をしてくれる崇拝者を求めています。神は霊とまことという真理で礼拝してくれる礼拝者を望んでおられます。（神は御霊と真理のうちに礼拝する礼拝者を望んでおられます。）
When we praise God and worship Him with all our heart in communion with the Holy Spirit, and in accordance to the truth of His Word – this is praise and worship in the church, in the home, in the workplace, in nature – then we will find ourselves with a transformed mind and the massive spiritual harvest of a fourth seed believer.
私たちが神を賛美し、聖霊との交わりの中で、そして神の言葉の真理に従って、心を尽くして礼拝するとき、例えそれが、教会、家庭、職場、自然の中であっても、賛美と礼拝になります。私たちは一新した心と、4つ目の種を信じた人のように、沢山の収穫を、霊的な成長を自分自身の中に見つけるでしょう。
（聖霊と一体となって心から神を賛美し、礼拝するなら、私たちは心が新たにされたことが分かり、4番目に種を信じた人のように大量の霊的収穫を見るでしょう。）
